The Grey Nuns residence is the best kept secret in Montreal for budget travelers. A beautiful heritage building in the heart of downtown this former convent is now run by Concordia University as a student residence. During term time it houses nearly 600 students but in summer anyone can enjoy this amazing location for a fraction of the price of neighbouring hotels. Although it is situated in the heart of all the action, Grey Nuns has a large, shaded garden where you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Enjoy a picnic by the fishpond or play a game of beach volleyball. Bedrooms have 1,2 or 4 beds and you will never be sharing with someone that you don’t know. We provide linens and rooms have either shared or private bathrooms, a sink, refrigerator and unlimited high-speed wifi plus 24 hour security. There are shared lounges and kitchenettes on each floor plus access to laundry facilities, which make it a great option for a short break or longer stay.

Located in the heart of downtown Montreal Grey Nuns is steps from the metro, shops and restaurants of rue St Catherine. A 10 minute walk will get you to the Mont Royal where you can chill out at the Tam Tams or take a hike to the top for an amazing view of the city. In the opposite direction is the Old Port with its cobbled streets, hip bars and tonnes of summer activities; from a giant zip wire to the temporary sandy beach or Bota Bota spa. To explore further afield just hop on the metro at the corner of Guy and St Catherine and access the city’s public transit system.

If the final location for CCCW19 is on the Loyola campus, attendees will receive a shuttle pass to get to and from residence and the workshop.
